Dr. Elif Sarıkaya

Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Medical school was followed by specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology at a university hospital. The residency years brought extensive clinical experience in antenatal care, the labour ward and gynaecological surgery.

Since 2019, patients have been seen at this private practice. Every consultation allows time to listen, examination findings are explained in plain language, and decisions are made together with each patient.

“Every woman’s story is different; a sound decision begins with listening and explaining things openly.”

Preparation

What to know before your visit

  • 01Noting the date of your last period and your usual cycle makes the assessment easier.
  • 02Please bring any previous blood tests, ultrasound reports and smear results with you.
  • 03Prepare a list of the medicines and supplements you take regularly.
  • 04If a smear test is planned, avoid vaginal douches, creams and intercourse for 48 hours beforehand; days of heavy bleeding are not ideal.
  • 05Writing your questions down in advance helps ensure nothing is overlooked during the consultation.

Accepted health cover

  • Services within the Turkish social security (SGK) scheme, subject to regulation
  • Private health insurance — please confirm your policy cover with your insurer
  • Supplementary health insurance
  • Travel health insurance for patients from abroad
The list of contracted insurers is updated on setup; no insurer logos are used for promotion.

Your questions

Practical questions about booking and your visit. Medical questions are best discussed in consultation.

View all
How often should I have a gynaecological check-up?
Even without specific complaints, a yearly check-up is a sensible starting point for most women. The frequency is then tailored to your age, history and screening results by the doctor.
Can I come for an examination during my period?
If it is urgent, of course you can. For a planned examination, and especially for a smear test, the days after your bleeding has stopped are usually more suitable; if you are unsure, feel welcome to call us before your appointment.
My pregnancy test is positive. When should I be seen?
Around weeks 6 to 8, counted from the first day of your last period, is a common time for the first assessment. If you have pelvic pain or bleeding, please do not wait, and call 112 or your local emergency number if symptoms are severe.
What happens at a first gynaecological visit?
We begin by talking through your health history, followed by an examination and ultrasound if needed. Each step is explained beforehand, and you only need to say if you feel uncomfortable at any point.
Can someone accompany me during the examination?
Yes. If you wish, a relative or a member of staff can be present during the examination; simply let us know when you book.
When should I seek care without delay?
In pregnancy, bleeding, leaking fluid, a clear reduction in the baby’s movements, a severe headache or abdominal pain all need prompt medical attention; in an emergency, call 112 or your local emergency number.
